This set is to me, the most beautiful of all PRC issues. I don't know how they did it, given the relatively primitive printing processes they had in 1963 compared to today, but these stamps seem to have an almost hypnotic beauty. They almost glow on an album page.
A CTO set will set you back over $150. Worth it IMO.

I have tried over the years to choose my favorite PRC stamps. But to be honest, I think there are many, too many, to choose just one set. But you are right, this set is certainly one of the best.
If you think the stamps are special, I hope you have already, or will in the future spend some time on Huangshan. Much of the scenery is breathtaking. Just take note that the lift is much easier on your body than the walk up. Yes, you can walk up, I have forgotten how many steps are there.
