Re: Just Joined? - Please tell us something about yourself.

Good morning Karl, at least it is here in Florida, USA. Welcome to the forum and I see you have already met Dawn. If my memory serves me, William Wise wrote about these numbers appearing on individual stamps several years ago in The China Clipper , journal of the CSS that Dawn referred to. You might...

Re: Newbie

Welcome Peter. Manchuko? Gees, just spent a couple of weeks organizing a part of my collection. Moved it from Scott number organization to the CSS catalogue system, called Mengkiang in the CSS catalogue. Both are very different. I'm staying away from the MLO however. Have to say I got lost and confu...

Re: Have you seen this fakes before?

I do not remember ever being asked to look at this set before.

Interesting to say the least. But as I have said many times on here. it is hard to tell from a computer scan posting.

Thank you for sharing. Hope collectors take note of your findings.

Re: Hong Kong Annigoni stamps

Welcome Doe, Trying to say something concrete when looking at an online image is chancy. I definitely see what you are talking about for the Queen's right side. That by itself would suggest a mis-registration. But there are a number of other things I see that make me wonder about this stamp. I do no...

Re: Rate to China

A most useful tool for this and future use. The CSS has posted on its website their philatelic database. This includes all China Clipper articles, and a number of others. It can be searched online. I am sure without looking that your question can be answered by one or more articles already published...

Re: cultural revolution stamps and FEC banknotes

Buying/selling stamps unseen is tricky business. Especially when you consider that many GPCR stamps are quite pricey. Might I suggest you consign this collection to the CSS auction? CSS can provide some assurance to both the buyer and seller that the stamps are genuine and the seller will get paid. ...

Re: Scott correlation

You might want to check the CSS website. There is a section there of books for sale. The CSS library often has multiple copies of books and offers them for sale through their website. If a CSS member, you can contact the library and ask to check out a copy. The CSS library is the largest bilingual (...

Re: eBay Sellers - China Stamp Society Findings

I just got a chance to go in and look at these. I encourage anyone thinking of purchasing high value stamps to consider the source, and then to consider expertizing. Yes, I do some for CSS, but anyone who spends large sums needs to be aware that there are really good forgeries out there. Thank you R...

Re: PRC C2 4-4

Thank you for the link Roman. I am surprised that they do not mention the characteristic differences between original and reprint that is listed in most catalogues. But I am also surprised that they mention narrow and wide versions. I had never seen that before. I will have to go back and check my s...

Re: PRC C2 4-4

The 4-4 in the link you sent is absolutely a reprint. But note not PRC C 2. It is a LAS issue in Scott. But note the C2 4-4's are honestly more difficult to see than the 4-3's. The internet is not friendly to high resolution scans. And then we run into the same problem many have faced, posting an im...
