Re: Kerr 91.9a

Actually there is another clue. Look at your three "unlisted" stamps with "佳" at the bottom. Note the way they all tilt to the right. Now look at the other stamps of that set in your collection and you will see most of them are upright with only a slight tilt to the left or right. What this shows is...

Re: Kerr 91.9a

Chan lists your 3 unlisted stamps (Kerr's T161) but I still have a nagging doubt about them. Old collections don't have them and dealer covers of the time seem to be missing them. Somehow they seem to have appeared later, maybe the original chop fell into the wrong hands. I think it is a bit simplis...

Re: eBay Sellers - China Stamp Society Findings

It is difficult. In time you get a feeling for the fake stamps, if ebay is involved you can often get an indication that sellers that are not quite right. As a rule be careful if someone is selling an inverted overprint, a missing colour, or anything from a liberated area. Check the feedback - if pr...

Mythical Overprints 4 - Kerr 199 Sui Feng **Fact or Fiction**

Kerr lists Sui Feng as having two sets of overprints but he is unable to locate the town These are not listed by Chan. Fisher's Gazette of Manchurian Post Offices does not list this town as having a Post Office of any type. These look a little unlikely to me - has anybody got any further information?

Re: Kerr 91.9a

My guess is that it probably does exist. I have a copy of a 91.14a which you mentioned and Kerr did not list. See below. I have failed to find the 9. 9a. 12. or 13. from this set so those stamps must be vary scarce (or maybe I have just been unlucky). It would have been hard to mix up a red overprin...

Re: Can you tell me exactly which place these sets come from?

Fisher lists a post office at Ping Shan (858 Chao-yuan, Pin Kiang) and the Manual of Chinese Manchurian Personal and Place Names lists it.

The existance of Ping Shan in Manchuria is confirmed.

Re: Can you tell me exactly which place these sets come from?

I can find a Ping Shan in Kowloon but that can't be it.

Chan says it is in Andoong (but what does he know?).

What about this from a Japanese map of about the right time. 大平 山 Da Ping Shan not far from Yingkow - see below.

I will keep looking to see if I can find anything better.

Re: Kerr 84.41-1

Very nice set of scarce Booklet Panes. We will wait to see if anyone can come up with the missing 4f with the soft black overprint.
